Learn More about FDM Printing

This page is for learning and understanding how FDM printing works.

What is FDM printing?

used Deposition Modeling (FDM) isa 3D printing process that uses a thermoplastic filament to create three-dimensional objects

How dose it work?

  1. A computer-aided design (CAD) file is converted into a format that the 3D printer can understand.
  2. TFDM builds parts layer by layer by selectively depositing melted material in a predetermined path. It uses thermoplastic polymers that come in filaments to form the final physical objects.
  3. The print head moves along the build plate, drawing each layer of the object.
  4. Once the object is printed, the support material is removed.

What is Filament

Plastic filament isa thermoplastic material used in 3D printers to create objects layer by layer .It's a continuous, slender thread of plastic that's usually spooled onto a reel for storage and feeding.
